Our work is diverse and sometimes it’s not just about big transactions and international deals, but about the valuable human stories that give our work exceptional meaning.
In 1939, thousands of people fleeing the war and Nazi persecution left Czechoslovakia. Among them was a 15-year-old boy who made it to safety in the UK – at the time of child evacuation transports, now known to the public thanks to the story of Nicholas Winton and the work of many volunteers. He found a new home in a foreign country, and life took him far away from the country he had to leave.
Decades later, we were able to help the family of this man’s descendants re-establish a relationship with his original homeland and we secured Czech citizenship for them. Our team, together with partner Jan Koval and managing associate Pavla Kaufmannová, mapped the family history in detail, searched historical records in files, archives and registries, and researched the legal context in order to prove their claim to citizenship. This work required diligence and a sense of context - and the result was worth it. We helped the family complete the circle of their extraordinary story.
